What is EDMR and AEDP?

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well researched, trauma-informed therapy that assists people to heal from long held subconscious beliefs, memories and disturbing life experiences.

An unprocessed memory may trigger a present day reaction, resulting in emotional pain, guilt, shame or even a physical response, as these subconscious memories are often held in the body, blocking the energy system and keeping the person from experiencing the freedom inherent in present moment experiences.

Through EMDR, people learn to respond more freely to present day situations and experiences with increased mindful awareness.

  • During an EMDR processing session, we can get to the root of symptoms and triggers.

The majority of people experience a reduction of traumatic memories and relief from the distress associated with these memories and triggers.

  • PTSD

    Panic attacks

    Depression

    Anxiety

    Victims of disasters

    Grief and loss

    Stress caused by chronic disease

  • AEDP helps people connect and build on the positive, and heal the past through the present. Using a somatic ( mind-body) focus and a mindfulness base, together we will assist you to shift into a state of wholeness, that is experienced in a transformational way.

EMDR and AEDP are both ways therapists help people deal with trauma, but they have different goals and methods. EMDR mainly focuses on reducing the impact of traumatic memories by using eye movements.

On the other hand, AEDP puts more effort into helping individuals transform emotionally and heal through a partnership with the therapist in a supportive and interactive setting.

Essentially, EMDR aims to ease distress by reworking traumatic memories, while AEDP focuses on promoting emotional growth and harmony by building a strong therapeutic bond and encouraging the expression of feelings in a safe space.
